Bits & Bites

Bits & Bites

Recipe

This recipe makes a large batch and has a nice kick to it thanks to healthy dose of Worcestershire sauce.

9 cups of any combination of Chex cereal

2 cups mini pretzels

1 1/2  cup Cheerios

1 1/2 cup peanuts

1/2 cup melted hot butter

1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce

1 1/2 tbsp seasoning salt

1 tsp garlic powder

Add the Chex, pretzels, Cheerios, and peanuts together in a large bowl. Gently stir to combine.

In seperate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt and garlic powder until well combined.

Drizzle half of the sauce evenly over the Chex Mix and mix gently.

Repeat with the rest of the sauce and stir again until well combined.

Spread on a large roasting pan or rimmed cookie sheets. Bake at 250 F for 1 1/2 hour,  stirring every half hour.

Make it Gluten Free

Just be sure to use rice Chex cereal and gluten free pretzels. The other items in the recipe are gluten free.  Check out the Glutino brand for really good gluten free products.

Tips:

If you don’t have seasoning salt in your cupboard, not to worry make your own.  Combine 2 tbsp salt, 1 tsp sugar and 1/2 tsp  each of garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and corn starch.

Feel free to change the variety of cereal or add in any other savory snacks that you like.

When the bits and bites are cooled, this is the time to add your sweet treats like M&M’s , Smarties or other candies.

Pictured above is a batch that I made for Easter giveaway treats. I used Easter coloured Smarties. Holiday coloured candies are always available to make the mix more festive.

Here’s how they look all packaged up!
