Pecan Roll

Pecan Roll

This appetizer is a such a crowd pleaser, and disappears quickly, especially when word get around about its sweet and savory flavours.

Lucky for me, my good friend Debbie shared her recipe and this one can be counted on, as one of my favourite appetizers. I love the crunchy nuts, combined with the soft cream cheese filling. The textures and taste are extremely additive.

INGREDIENTS

8 oz. package of cream cheese

1 clove minced garlic

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 tsp Dijon musard

1/2 tsp Worestershire sauce

1 cup chopped pecans

INSTRUCTIONS

Put cheese in microwavable bowl and soften according to microwave instructions. Stir in garlic, gather mixture onto a piece of wax or parchment paper and form into a log about 1 inch diameter. Chill in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight.

In a 2 cup glass measuring cup or bowl, combine butter, sugar, mustard and Worcestershire sauce, miicrowave for 1 minute on high. Stir well, place in the microwave again until thick and bubbly, stir in pecans.

On a large piece of waxed or parchment paper, spread the pecan mixture to approximately 6″ X 10″ size. Unwrap the chilled cream cheese log and place on top of the mixture and roll. Chill for several hours in the refrigerator.
